1 PETA Workers Charged With Animal Cruelty.  Two employees of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have been charged with animal cruelty after dumping dead dogs and cats in a shopping center garbage bin, police said.  Read More

2 Felon gets 99 years for stealing cell phone.  Glenn Reed of Waco, Texas testified in his own defense during his trial, often going into profanity-laced tirades and telling jurors he didn't care if they gave him life in prison for the robbery.  The jurors, who deliberated about 15 minutes, happily obliged.  Read More

3 President of NOW feminist chapter charged with false rape.  A 23-year-old Florida woman, and president of the Brevard Chapter of the National Organization for Women has been charged with making false statements about a rape that left area college students scared to walk the campus, according to WKMG-TV in Orlando.  Read More

4 Man Pulled From Women's Outhouse Tank.  A man is facing charges after police said they pulled him from a tank under a women's toilet that was filled with human waste.  Police said that Gary Moody, 45, was under a log cabin outhouse off the Kancamagas Highway in Albany, N.H.  "You can draw your own conclusions as to the conditions we encountered," said Capt. John Hebert, of the local Sheriff's office.  Police said that they got a call from the parents of a teenage girl who said that when she went to use the facilities, she saw Moody's face staring back at her from under the toilet seat.  Read More

5 $56,000 robbery at bank drive-thru.  Even bank robbers appreciate a drive-through window. Police say a man drove up to a LaSalle bank and slid a note demanding money to the teller through a tube at the window.  The teller complied, shooting back about $56,000, Belmont District police said.  Read More

6 Man Reports Missing Car, Not Missing Child.  A Michigan City man called police to report his car missing, but did not mention that his 4-month-old son had been left inside it, authorities said. Porter County police officers found the car with the boy inside about 11 p.m. Sunday, parked in front of a home a few miles northwest of Valparaiso.  Read More

7 Thieves can't even sell Segways.  The thieves who wheeled 10 Segway scooters away from a truck dealership in April apparently couldn't figure out how to sell their loot, police said.  Police found the motorized scooters last week stowed in a Manchester garage collecting dust and in perfect condition.  Read More

8 Two Men Electrocuted While Trying To Steal Power Line.  One man was killed and another hospitalized after being electrocuted early Friday morning while trying to steal a power cable, police said.  The pair thought the line was a low-voltage wire, but it was actually a high-voltage line carrying roughly 12,500 volts.  Read More

9 'Trick shot' kills liquor store robber.  A 32-year-old Fort Collins, Colorado man was shot in the head while attempting to rob a downtown Windsor liquor store with a garden hose nozzle.  When the robber forced the liquor store owner to the floor, he grabbed a pistol from under the counter and fired, striking the inside of the garden hose nozzle which exited the top of the nozzle and struck the robber in the head, according to police.  Read More

10· Police nab stupid bank robber.  Bank robbers usually try to conceal their identity, but according to Winona police, a man walked into Fortress Bank and handed a teller a note that said, "Hi, I am Thomas Mason."  The note went on to demand $1,000 in $100 and $20 bills and that he would, "kill everyone in the bank if he had to come back with weapon in hand," police reports said.  Read More

11 Police shoot teen to end bulldozer chase.  A 14-year-old boy who allegedly stole a bulldozer and led Tucson, Arizona, police on a 15-mile chase was critically wounded Thursday night when officers fired on the tractor as it sped toward them, a police official said.  Read More

12 Police Find Pot in 200-Pound Stolen Safe.  A man who reported a safe stolen from his home may now face charges after police found the safe - with almost a pound of marijuana inside.  Deputies recovered the safe after receiving a tip. The safe was still locked, and when deputies called the owner to open it, they discovered the items he described, along with the marijuana.  Read More

13 Extreme house cleaning after foreclosure.  Police think a 46-year-old woman and her boyfriend more than cleaned out their former home in Osceola, Indiana after it was foreclosed. They apparently took $60,000 worth of cabinets, toilets and light fixtures, the central air unit, landscape shrubbery, sprinkler system, plus kitchen and bathroom sinks.  Read More

14· Lawn-mower DUI charge results in jail.  A Vermont man already facing his fourth charge of drunken driving is now behind bars for allegedly riding a lawn mower on the road while intoxicated.  Raymond M. Jensen, 47, of Route 4A pleaded innocent Monday in Rutland District Court to the latest drunken driving charge involving the lawn mower, as well as a charge of violating the conditions of his release from the earlier DUI charge.  Read More

15 93-Year-Old Drives Through Toll With Body On Windshield.  A 93-year-old driver apparently suffering from dementia fatally struck a pedestrian, then continued driving through a toll booth with the man's body on his windshield, police said. Investigators said Ralph Parker hit the man on 34th Street in St. Petersburg Wednesday night, according to a report. Ralph Parker of Pinellas Park drove for 3 miles Wednesday night after striking the 52-year-old pedestrian with his gold 2002 Chevrolet Malibu.  Read More

16 Customs Lets Man In U.S., But Takes Bloody Chainsaw, Sword.  Gregory Despres hitchhiked to the Canadian border crossing at Calais, Maine, carrying a homemade sword, a hatchet, a knife, brass knuckles and a chain saw stained by what appeared to be blood.  Customs officials confiscated the cache of weapons and fingerprinted Despres, but allowed him to enter the United States - not knowing the gruesome scene about to unfold in the hitchhiker's hometown.  Read More

17 Alleged carjackers pick the wrong guys.  One man was shot to death and another wounded after they allegedly attempted a carjacking against two FBI agents who were conducting surveillance.  The agents were "accosted by four young male subjects, at least one of whom was armed" about midnight and an altercation ensued when the four suspects allegedly tried to take the agents' vehicle, FBI officials said.  Read More

18 Ronald MacDonald Charged With Stealing From Wendy's.  You'd think that just working at a Wendy's restaurant would be difficult for Ronald MacDonald.  Now, the 22-year-old MacDonald - no relation to Ronald McDonald, the clown - has been charged with stealing money from a safe at Wendy's.  Read More

19 Illegal immigrant rapes 14-year-old at convenience store.  A 14-year-old girl stopped at a White Hen Pantry convenience store near her school when she was allegedly raped by a store employee, while the store manager kept watch.  The store employee and alleged attacker, Jose Oviedo, who is an illegal immigrant, was arrested and charged with the crime, then released on bail.  Oviedo never showed for his hearing and is believed to have fled to Mexico.  Read More

20 Harvard Economics Prof Charged in Manure Case.  A Harvard professor was arrested on suspicion of trying to steal a load of manure from a Massachusetts farm, police said on Wednesday.  Read More
