· Judge grants Lafave motion to end house arrest.  A Tampa judge has granted Debra Lafave's request to end her house arrest, just four months after being arrested for violating her probation.  The attorney for the former teacher Debra Lafave filed the motion hoping the house arrest served so far was sufficient. 

· Deborah Lafave not going back to jail.  A former Hillsborough County teacher who admitted to having sex with one of her underage students in 2005 will not be going back to jail, even though a judge admitted today she did violate her probation.  A judge said today Deborah Lafave did violate her probation by talking with a 17-year-old co-worker about sex. But he said Lafave's violations were neither "willful nor substantial." 

· Debra Lafave Appears in Court to Face Probation-Violation Charge.  Debra Lafave, the former middle school teacher serving house arrest for having sex with a student, appeared in a Hillsborough County, Fla., courtroom Tuesday to face charges stemming from contact with an underage female co-worker at a restaurant where she worked. 

· Debra Lafave back in trouble.  Debra Lafave, a former Florida middle school teacher convicted of having sex with a student, was arrested Tuesday for "inappropriate but non-sexual contact" with a teenage coworker, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.  The association violated the terms of Lafave's probation, which forbade her to have contact with anyone under 18, the sheriff's office said. 

· MSNBC Milks Lauer's Debra Lafave Scoop.  The Debra Lafave sex scandal is finding new life on TV, the Orlando Sentinel reports. Matt Lauer's interview with the former teacher aired Wednesday on Today and Dateline. "Lafave's attorney, John Fitzgibbons, said he thought Lafave's interview accomplished two things: giving her side of the story and informing people about bipolar disorder, which she says contributed to her actions." 

· The ex-husband of the Florida teacher who slept with a 14-year-old student explains why he's written a book about it.  Debra LaFave, the notorious Tampa, Fla., teacher who had sex with her 14-year-old student in 2004, is back in the news. After pleading guilty to lewd and lascivious battery charges last year, she began serving three years of house arrest. But LaFave emerged from hiding to grant NBC an interview, which aired this week. In it, she recounted details of her affair with the student and discussed aspects of her troubled past, including her bipolar disorder. She wasn't the only one in the spotlight, though. Her ex-husband, Owen LaFave, is now doing the media rounds to promote his new book. 

· Former Teacher Says She 'Crossed The Line' In Sex With Teen.  During an interview with Matt Lauer, former middle-school teacher Debra Lafave, who is serving house arrest for having sex with a 14-year-old pupil, said "he wanted it, so I gave it to him." Lafave also said that she was a deeply troubled woman at the time and "crossed the line that never should've been crossed."  The 25-year-old Lafave, who became a tabloid sensation after her arrest in 2004, also acknowledges that her victim might "have a hard time trusting women one day. I'm sure he has to be living with the guilt of - quote, unquote - ratting me out," according to transcripts of the interview with Matt Lauer released by NBC Tuesday. The interview will air Wednesday on the "Today" show and "Dateline NBC."  Lafave is serving three years house arrest and seven years probation after pleading guilty to having sex with the boy in a classroom and her home in June 2004. Her plea in November avoided a trial during which the victim would have been called to testify. 

· Lafave granted break for interview.  Debra Lafave, the teacher turned seducer of a 14-year-old boy, got a break from her home confinement to sit down Tuesday with NBC’s Matt Lauer for an interview that will air on national TV.  Her probation officer didn’t agree to it. A judge and prosecutors did.  “Debbie really wanted to explain her bipolar illness in hopes that it might be beneficial to people when they hear about it,” her attorney said. 

· Teacher's sex charges dropped.  State prosecutors said Tuesday they were dropping charges against a former Tampa teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old middle school student.  The decision, announced hours after a judge rejected a plea deal for Debra Lafave, means the victim won't have to testify.  Prosecutors and defense attorneys had urged the judge to accept the deal for the sake of the boy involved. A psychiatrist who examined the teenager told the judge at a previous hearing that the boy suffered extreme anxiety from the media coverage of the case and does not want to testify. 

· NBC: Charges dropped in teacher sex scandal.  Sources told Orlando NBC affiliate WESH-TV that prosecutors had planned for several weeks to drop the charges against Lafave, who earlier agreed to a plea deal in a second court in a case in which she lost her teacher's license and was sentenced to three years of house arrest.  Prosecutors, defense attorneys and the boy’s mother wanted to avoid trial for the boy’s well-being. 

· CH10: LaFave CHARGES DROPPED.  State prosecutors are dropping the charges against a former Tampa teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old middle school student.  The decision comes hours after a judge rejected a plea deal that would have meant no prison time for Debra LaFave. 

· FoxNews: Charges Dropped Against Lafave.  Charges against a Tampa teacher who had sex with a 14-year-old middle-school student have been dropped in one of the two counties where the incidents occurred.  Debra Lafave, 25, was charged in Marion County with lewd and lascivious battery on a child and lewd and lascivious exhibition for having sex with the now 16-year-old boy in a sport utility vehicle. 

· Lafave Plea Deal Rejected.  A judge rejected a plea deal Tuesday that would have stopped the trial of a Tampa teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old middle school student.  Accepting Debra Lafave's plea agreement would undermine the credibility of the criminal justice system and "erode public confidence in our schools," Marion County Circuit Judge Hale Stancil wrote.  Prosecutors and defense attorneys had urged the judge to accept the deal for the sake of the boy involved. A psychiatrist who examined the teenager told the judge at a previous hearing that the boy suffered extreme anxiety from the intense media coverage surrounding the case and does not want to testify. 

· Mother Of Boy In Lafave Case Doesn't Want Trial.  The mother of a teenage boy in the Debra Lafave case said the teacher accused of having sex with her son should not face trial because of the publicity it will generate.  The woman said she hopes Circuit Judge Hale Stancil lets the former teacher get a plea deal, even if it means she will serve no time behind bars. 

· New loves bloom from Lafaves' failed union.  Debra Lafave's legal future is in limbo, but not her love life.  As a Marion County judge considers whether to accept a plea deal that would keep Lafave out of prison, both she and her ex-husband have moved on to new relationships.  Lafave arrived in Judge Stancil's courtroom last week wearing both a court-ordered ring around her ankle - a monitoring device - and a shiny new ring on her finger. 

· Debra LaFave engaged  She is the most infamous registered sex offender in Florida. She also appears to be a registered bride.  According to Thursday morning's St. Petersburg Times, Debra LaFave is confirmed to be engaged. 

· Judge Asked to Reconsider Lafave Plea Deal.  Prosecutors asked a judge today to reconsider his rejection of a plea deal for a Tampa teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old middle school student.  The judge will decide in the next seven to ten days whether to accept or reject the plea deal entered by Debra Lafave, whose case has gained national attention.  She would avoid prison time under the plea deal. Prosecutors accepted it because the victim doesn't want to testify. 

· LaFave back in court today.  Former teacher, Debra LaFave will be back in a Marion County courtroom this afternoon.  LaFave faces charges for having sex with a 14-year-old student while visiting Ocala two summers ago.  Hillsborough County deputies arrested LaFave in June 2004, claiming she had a sexual affair with a student. LaFave was scheduled to go to trial in Hillsborough County this past July. But her attorney John Fitzgibbons reached a plea deal with the State Attorney's Office in June. LaFave was sentenced to three years of house arrest and seven years of sex offender probation. 

· Teacher Sex Plea Deal In Doubt.  A hitch has developed in a plea deal agreed to by a former teacher who pleaded guilty to having sex with a 14-year-old student, a spokesman for the prosecutor said. The agreement was meant to resolve charges against Debra Lafave, 25, in two counties. But the judge in one of the counties has balked, Ric Ridgeway, a spokesman for the State Attorney's Office, said Thursday. 

· Judge rejects Debra LaFave's plea deal.  A judge in Marion County has rejected Debra LaFave's plea deal. A trial is now scheduled in Marion County for April 10.  LaFave, a former schoolteacher, is accused of having sexual relations with one of her students. She faced separate charges in both Hillsborough and Marion counties. A plea deal was made for the Hillsborough charges, but today's ruling has the plea deal rejected for Marion County. 

· Sex offender Web site shows smiling Lafave.  Debra Lafave is still beaming, even from the sex offender Web site. Lafave made it onto the list after pleading guilty last week to two counts of lewd and lascivious battery for having sex with a teenage boy. She avoided prison, getting three years of house arrest and seven years of probation. Her attorney, John Fitzgibbons, said last week that "the ramification of being a sexual offender will be with Debbie for 10 years or longer." But for now, she's smiling. 

· Debra Lafave Walks.  Before she could plead not guilty by reason of insanity to charges she committed lewd or lascivious battery on a teenager, Debra Lafave has pleaded guilty, but will not go to prison. The former Greco Middle School teacher, accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy, came to a plea agreement with prosecutors Tuesday. As part of the agreement, Lafave, 25, will serve three years of community control, and seven years probation. The judge said Lafave could have been sentenced to decades in state prison. "I accept full responsibility for my actions," Lafave told the court. 

· Court Filings:  Predatory Teacher Dodges Jail.  In a sweetheart plea deal, a former Florida middle school teacher who had sex with a 14-year-old male student escaped a jail term today. Debra Lafave, 24, pleaded guilty to two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior and was sentenced to three years of community control, or house arrest, and ordered to register as a sex offender. Lafave's plea came on the eve of trial and was approved by the teen victim and his family (in a court affidavit filed today, the boy's mother wrote that a trial would "negatively affect my son's emotional and psychological well-being"). 

· CNN:  Florida teacher pleads guilty to sex with teen student.  A female teacher pleaded guilty Tuesday to having sex with a 14-year-old middle school student, avoiding prison as part of a plea agreement. Debra Lafave, 25, whose sensational case made tabloid headlines, will serve three years of house arrest and seven years' probation. She pleaded guilty to two counts of lewd and lascivious battery.

· NBC:  House arrest for teacher who had sex with boy.  If convicted at trial, Debra LaFave could have faced up to 15 years in prison on each count. The plea agreement also was designed to resolve similar charges pending in Marion County. Hillsborough Circuit Judge Wayne Timmerman said LaFave also will forever lose her teaching certificate, must register with the state as a sexual predator, may not have any contact with children including the victim, and will not be allowed to profit from the sale of her story or personal appearances.  Prosecutor Michael Sinacore said the young victim’s family wanted to get the case over with because of the intense public and media scrutiny. 

· Apparent plea deal in Lafave sex-with-a-student case.  The Tampa bay area's infamous sex-with-a-student trial, expected to get nationwide attention, could be over before it even began: It appears that there may be a plea deal in the Debra Lafave case.  Before a scheduled pre-trial hearing this morning, Lafave's attorney John Fitzgibbons asked to meet in private with Judge Wayne Timmerman and prosecutor Mike Sinacore to discuss something that would make the issues of the morning moot.  After a 15-minute meeting in the judge's chambers, the three emerged to announce that there had been a resolution in the case. 

· Judge issues gag order in Lafave teacher sex case.  Worried about seating an untainted jury for trial next month, a judge issued a gag order Friday in the high-profile case of a female middle-school teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old male student.  At the request of prosecutors, state Circuit Judge Wayne Timmerman ordered attorneys not to talk publicly about the pending prosecution of Debra Lafave, 25, whose sexual liaisons with a student last year made tabloid headlines around the world. 

· Female teacher accused of having sex with student now accused of stealing boyfriend.  A Riverview woman is upset not only because her boyfriend dumped her for another woman, but because of who that woman is and the time she may spend around her child.  That woman is Debra Lafave.  Lafave is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student. It is a confusing story that involves the ex-girlfriend of Lafave's current boyfriend, Andrew Beck, according to Channel 10 TV in Tampa Bay. 

· Too pretty for prison? Other inmates weigh in on Lafave claims.  Former Hillsborough County teacher Debra Lafave is set to go to trial next month. She's accused of having sex with a 14-year old student, but her lawyer argues prison isn't the place for her.  "To place an attractive young woman into that kind of hellhole is like putting a piece of raw meat in with the lions. I am not sure that Debbie would be able to survive," John Fitzgibbons recently said.

"I think his statement is a joke, honestly, because I was terrified when I found out I was being sent to prison. I had heard of women being raped, and especially someone attractive going into prison," Jackie Foley said. Despite those rumors, Jackie insisted she has never been raped in prison. But she conceded that she has been propositioned frequently. 

· Judge says NO to release of nude photos of Debra LaFave.  This morning in a Tampa courtroom, a motion for protective order was granted to the attorney for former middle school teacher Debra LaFave. That means, nude photos that were taken by law enforcement as part of the teacher sex investigation will not be made public. 

· Teacher To Claim Insanity in Sex Case.  A teacher will claim she was insane due to emotional stress and did not know right from wrong when she had sex numerous times with a 14-year-old student, her attorney said Monday.  "What teacher in her right mind would do something like this?" attorney John Fitzgibbons said after a brief hearing for his client, Debra Lafave, a middle-school reading teacher.  Lafave's trial was set for Dec. 5 on four felony counts of lewd and lascivious battery and one count of lewd and lascivious exhibition. Each carries a maximum 15-year prison term. 

· Debra Lafave: Teacher accused of sex with students wants a trial.  Middle school teacher Debra Lafave says she wants to go to trial and claim she was insane when she had sex with a 14-year-old student.  An attorney for the 24-year-old told a judge today that plea negotiations with prosecutors broke down and she is prepared for trial.  Attorney John Fitzgibbons said Lafave wouldn't agree to plea deals because they involved too much prison time. He said this morning that she would be "raw meat" in prison. 

· Trial Set To Begin For Teacher Accused Of Sex With Student.  The trial for the Central Florida teacher arrested and charged with having sex with a 14-year-old student is set to begin Monday.  In a case that garnered international attention, investigators have said that Debra Lafave, 24, had sex with the boy at her Riverview town house, in a portable classroom at Greco Middle School and in the back of her sport utility vehicle while his 15-year-old cousin drove them around the Ocala area. 

· Trial Delayed In Teacher Sex Case.  Former Florida middle school teacher Debra Lafave, who is accused of having an affair with one of her students appeared before a judge Tuesday morning.  Lafave, who is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious battery, appeared in court for a pretrial hearing.  Her trial had been set for next month, but the judge moved it to July 18.  Lafave's attorney told the judge he needed more time to interview witnesses and review doctors' reports. 

      » Lafave May Negotiate Plea Deal.  The 24-year-old teacher accused of molesting her 14-year-old student hopes to make a deal with prosecutors without having to endure a trial.  Debra Lafave's attorney and the assistant state attorney prosecuting her both told Judge Wayne Timmerman on Tuesday morning that they hoped to begin plea negotiations soon. 

· Former teacher to use insanity plea against charges of sex with student.  When a young Hillsborough County teacher was accused this summer of having a sexual affair with a 14-year-old student, many people's first reaction to the notorious case was, 'She's crazy.' Tuesday, Debra Lafave's attorney announced that his client would indeed be using an insanity defense.

Lafave, 24, is facing charges of lewd and lascivious behavior, stemming from accusations that the former Greco Middle School teacher had sex with the student both at school and in a car driven by the student's cousin in Ocala. 

· Teacher's Ex-Husband Appalled by Tapes.  A day after tapes of phone conversations between a Florida teacher and a 14-year-old student she allegedly had sex with were released, Debra Lafave's estranged husband said he was appalled.  "This isn't the woman I married and not what I signed up for in life when I married her," Owen Lafave told ABC News' "Good Morning America" today. 

· Police Report:  Middle School Sex Scandal.  According to the boy, whose name was redacted from the document by police, his relationship with Lafave began with a week left in the 2003-4 school year, when "she became affectionate." The student then went on to detail encounters with Lafave in her Greco Middle School classroom, an automobile, and the woman's Tampa-area home. At the request of investigators, he gave them a description of Lafave's tattoos, tan lines, and private parts. 

· Documents released in alleged sex case.  The relationship between suspended middle school teacher Debra Beasley Lafave and the 14-year-old student she is accused of having sex with appeared to be one of mutual attraction, court documents released Thursday indicated.  The documents, released by the 13th Circuit State Attorney's Office in Tampa, also show DNA matching Lafave's was recovered from the boy's body. 

· Young male student outlines case against schoolteacher.  In his statement - which is written in the childish scrawl of a young teen - the victim revealed how he became entangled in an affair with the comely teacher. "She told me that she had feeling for me," he wrote. "She told me that she was thinking about me a lot and had feeling for me [and] she didn't know what to do with them. "We did not have sex until Monday June 14," he added. "On Monday she asked me to help her clean out her portable [classroom at the school]. We had sex for the first time."

· Police Release Tapes in Teacher Sex Case.  Police released audio tapes Thursday of phone calls between a teacher and a 14-year-old student she is accused of raping.  In the calls, Debra LaFave speaks with the boy about the affair they were allegedly having and the student expresses concerns that the middle school teacher might be pregnant. Police were also releasing DNA evidence as part of the public record of the case.' 

· Teacher Accused of Sex With Student Closer to Trial.  Just like her arraignment last month, Debra Lafave was a no-show as her attorney asked for a continuance during a pre-trial hearing to defend her against allegations of having sex with a student.

A fourteen year old at Tampa's Greco Middle School says he and Lafave started engaging in sex acts at her Tampa-area apartment soon after school ended this summer. Then in June, he says they met twice for sex in Ocala -- both times with the boy's 15-year-old cousin acting as a chauffeur. Her attorney says collecting evidence and talking to witnesses across the state will take time. 

· Tampa teacher pleads not guilty to more charges of sex with student.  A 23-year-old middle-school teacher pleaded not guilty to two more charges of having sex with a 14-year-old former student, her attorney said. Written pleas were filed on Debra Beasley Lafave's behalf Tuesday to two counts of lewd and lascivious battery in Hillsborough County, said her attorney, John Fitzgibbons. She pleaded not guilty last month to similar charges against her in Marion County. 

· Hot for Student: A Teacher on Trial.  When the 14-year-old student told his cousin that a "hot teacher" at his Tampa, Fla., middle school liked him, his cousin didn't believe it. So the student decided to prove it. He arranged for the two to meet reading teacher Debra LaFave one day in June, according to a police affidavit. They drove around in her SUV and bought smoothies. Then LaFave, 23, ceded the wheel to the cousin and repaired to the back seat with the student. According to the affidavit, "she moaned a couple of times, then laughed at something." When LaFave later made a pit stop, the affidavit reads, the student exclaimed to his cousin: "It was awesome." 

'Debbie Does Tampa' Sex Scandal.  More information is coming out about a Tampa, Florida area teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year old student. Provocative photos of 23-year old Debra Lafave taken five years ago have surfaced on the Internet.

· Teacher Turns Self In On New Counts.  With her head held high and eyes staring straight ahead, Greco Middle School teacher Debra Beasley Lafave turned herself in to Marion County officials Monday on additional charges that she had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old student. 

· Teacher confronts more student sex charges.  The 14-year-old told detectives he and Lafave, 23, engaged in oral sex or sexual intercourse at three locations: in her portable classroom at Greco Middle School in Tampa, at her Riverview apartment and in her sport-utility vehicle while his cousin drove around Ocala.
