Totten announced that Robert Sorrells (DOB 6/29/1930) was sentenced to 32 years to life in the California Department of Corrections for the July 24, 2004, murder of Arthur DeLong and attempted murder of Edward Sanchez.

Sorrells had pleaded guilty to one count of premeditated murder and one count of premeditated attempted murder.
· Veteran actor arrested in shooting death. Robert Sorrells, a veteran character actor who appeared often on such popular TV Westerns as "Gunsmoke," "Rawhide" and "Bonanza," was arrested for investigation of murder after witnesses told police he walked into a neighborhood bar and shot two patrons, killing one.
· LA Times: Man Held in Shooting Was Cowboy Actor. Police said Robert Sorrells walked into the Regency Lounge on Los Angeles Avenue in Simi Valley about 5 p.m. Saturday and opened fire on customers and employees. He then walked back through the bar's front door, turned around and fired two shots, hitting one customer seated on a bar stool, police said.The tall, slender, silver-haired actor appeared in TV dramas, including "Rawhide," "Combat!" "The Fugitive" and "Death Valley Days."
· "Does anybody else want to (expletive) with the cowboy?" The gunslinger allegedly strolled through the bar's front door and fired two shots, hitting a regular customer sitting on a barstool and said: "Does anybody else want to (expletive) with the cowboy?'
· Neighbor calls Sorrells a 'wacko.' "He was my friend, but he was a wacko, no doubt about it ... it's so heartbreaking," said Marly Harris, who lived near Robert Sorrells in a low-income senior complex in Simi Valley.
· Cowboy actor fled scene. Robert Sorrells, 74, fled the bar in a Volkswagen van but was arrested a short distance away on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, Sgt. Joseph May said.
