Ann Sheridan earned the nickname 'The Oomph Girl' based on her stunning good looks, which made you do a double take. Her wholesome sexuality followed her throughout her roles from glamorous society girl to diner waitress.

She got her start in life on February 21, 1915 in Denton, Texas, just north of Dallas, as Clara Lou Sheridan, born to a stay at home mother and her auto mechanic father. She was the fifth and last child of her parents.
