TV station sorry for racist on-air Asiana pilot name gaffe

KTVU Channel 2 in the San Francisco Bay Area, has issued an apology on Friday after an on-air blunder by an anchorwoman that involved fake names of Asiana flight 214 pilots. The anchor read the names that may have originated as a racially insensitive joke online — “Sum Ting Wong,” “Wi Tu Lo,” “Ho Lee Fuk,” and “Bang Ding Ow.” The NTSB also apologized for confirming the names in error to the station.  More…
